Patrick Cannie is a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology and holds an unlimited Chief Engineer's Licence and sailed with Mobil Tankers and Thoresen Car Ferries before coming to Dubai in 1986. He has been a surveyor since then and was previously the senior surveyor with another local firm of consultants, between 1986 and 1992, before joining SCUA in September 1992.

Salvator (Joe) Astorina is a Member of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology and holds an unlimited Chief Engineer's Licence and sailed with Shell Australia's fleet of crude & product tankers sailing on the Australian coast. Between 1987 and 1991 he was a Superintendent with the fleet before joining the Schulte organisation in Cyprus as a Fleet Superintendent and Technical Manager. Joe has been a surveyor with SCUA in Dubai since early 2007.
