SCUA (Scandinavian Underwriters Agency) was originally set up to serve the needs of Scandinavian Marine Hull and Machinery and P&I Insurers. The first office was opened in New York in 1897, followed by Rotterdam in 1910. Since then, further offices have been opened in Hamburg, Antwerp (plus subsidiaries in Dunkirk and Marseilles), Lisbon, London, Miami, Kobe and Yokohama. Our offices in Antwerp, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Kobe and Yokohama also have specialist P&I cargo departments who report through an in-house subsidiary called MICO ( Mutual Insurance Claims Office ).
SCUA Middle East in Dubai was opened in 1992 to provide independent, high quality marine and engineering consultancy and survey services to the shipping, insurance and offshore oil and gas industries in the Arabian Gulf and Indian Sub-continent. Nowadays, we no longer represent the Scandinavian market exclusively, but are free to offer our services to the wider marine industry, including Hull & Machinery Underwriters and P&I Clubs, Brokers, Marine Law firms, Owners and Managers worldwide.
